Leading Distribution Industry Organization Announces Three New Members

St. Petersburg, Florida, August 23, 2018 — The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC), the largest international consortium of IT distributors, today announced the addition of three new members: CMS Distribution, Siewert & Kau and TESSCO Technologies, Inc. The new members support the GTDC’s continued global expansion while further demonstrating the success and growth of distribution worldwide.

“The role of distribution is as important as ever at the center of technology ecosystems,” said GTDC CEO Tim Curran, noting that its members’ sales exceed more than $150 billion in annual revenue. “Our analysis of aggregate distributor sales reflects strong growth in the U.S. and Europe this year. Vendor partners are engaging in dynamic new ways to advance their business in current and emerging markets. These new GTDC members attest to the trends in action, as they’re all highly successful and adept at introducing new services to the channel.”

The new members operate in multiple countries, predominantly across North America and Europe as well as the Asia Pacific region. GTDC member benefits range from insights and engagement on key industry issues and opportunities to exclusive resources and participation in executive-level conferences throughout the world.

New Members in Europe

Although the GTDC was founded in the U.S., its aggregate member revenue is now considerably higher in the European region – and the growth continues with the addition of Siewert & Kau, headquartered in Bergheim, Germany, and London-based CMS Distribution.

“Joining the GTDC is a significant step in our overall growth and stature in the technology industry,” said CMS CEO and founder Frank Salmon, who oversaw more than £455 million in sales and the acquisition of award-winning distributor TNS Connect in 2017. “The GTDC will serve as a critical asset in leveraging partner opportunities and capitalizing on industry developments as we continue to expand our channel presence throughout the world.”

CMS Distribution was created in 1988 and sells to over 3,000 business-to-business and business-to-consumer reseller partners with locations in the UK and Ireland as well as the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, France, Australia and China.

Siewert & Kau specializes in IT distribution, logistics and services with trading partners in 65 countries. Established in 1994, they have decades of experience with a diverse selection of IT products while delivering a full range of logistics services and solutions expertise in areas ranging from software and marketing to accounting.

“We pride ourselves on active and consistent alignment with our vendor partners, and the framework provided by the GTDC will only further this mission,” said one of Siewert and Kau’s founders and managing directors, Björn Siewert, who saw the company’s revenue for its most recent fiscal year surpass €730 million. “We also look forward to joining the ongoing conversation among industry leaders regarding pressing challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving channel.”

In addition to signing the two new members based in Europe and the UK, the GTDC also announced the addition of TESSCO Technologies, Inc. , a Hunt Valley, Md.-based value-added technology distributor specializing in wireless solutions. Founded in 1982, Tessco supplies more than 50,000 products from 400 top manufacturers in mobile communications, Wi-Fi, Internet of Things and more.
